Website Benchmarking Project Win

I’m delighted to announce a new business win in the form of a website benchmarking project. Unfortunately I can’t say who it is for, other than it’s a global electronics manufacturer, but you’ve definitely heard of them.

The project involves assessing the websites of the client’s resellers to ensure that they are as effective as possible in generating leads, sales and repeat business. That means not only compliance with technical and best practice standards, but also in terms of design, functionality, usability and the copy on the website. What’s more, the major aim of the project is to help retailers improve, so we’ll be commenting on pretty much every point that we assess, providing action points and an overall summary of findings.

I’m particularly proud that I won the business as the report format is all my own work and took a long time to put together, including sourcing software tools that can check a whole website for compliance with technical and accessiblity standards. There are over 130 separate points, some of them are simple yes/no questions, others are graded from 1 to 5. In order to be as consistent as possible, there’s a together a formal marking schema. It’s pretty comprehensive, and the prototype report came to over 50 pages.

We’ve just been given the first two reports to do, with up to 30 predicted for the New Year. The first one is in German so we have a native German speaking marketer lined up to assess the quality of the copy and it’s suitability for the German market.

Needless to say, if you’d like your website to be given the once-over, I’d be delighted to do do so, just give me a call on the number below.
