MacIvor Grant Website

MacIvor Grant is a highly respected risk management consultancy, with offices in the UK and Houston.I’d built their previous website many years ago, but it was starting to look a little tired and out of date, so they decided that it was time for me to build them a new one. Deciding that it wasn’t the kind of offer that I could refuse, I went and built them a simple, clean site that showcases the work that they do.

MacIvor Grant (http://www.macivorgrant.com) is a highly respected risk management consultancy, with offices in the UK and Houston.

The brief was to produce a website that showcased the diverse range of MacIvor Grant’s activities to potential and existing clients. There were a number of restrictions:

  1. The site had to use an existing logo and complement existing marketing collateral, such as business cards and letterheads.
  2. As the site was intended for a global audience, so we had to avoid any design or text elements that might cause offense, or be misunderstood.
  3. Client confidentiality meant that we couldn’t talk about specific clients or cases, so there was unlikely to be any latest news.

The solution was a simple and business-like design that shows range of MacIvor Grant’s activities. Content was organised into sections, with menus and sub-menus that made it easy to identify content and related sections. Copy was written in a direct and professional tone that reflected that used by MacIvor Grant’s staff, with small touches, such as the use of stock imagery and custom bullet points to add visual interest.

The pages were designed from the outset to be printed, and use a custom print sylesheet to layout copy on the printed page without any unneccesary elements such as background graphics or navigation bars. To make the most of any pages that were printed out, we ensured that every page dispayed phone numbers and email addresses for the company.

The client was delighted with the result and went on to commission a custom PowerPoint template that reflected the design of the website. The template was used to create a series of presentations that were used in high-level presentations in the Arabian Gulf, amongst other places.
